Location:
The trail is situated 30 km from Clarens in the Eastern Free State

 

Trail Description:
Day 1 – 10 km.  Marked with a white footprint.  This trail starts at base camp, follow trail all along the mountain, up the mountain.  Bushman paintings can be seen on top of the mountain.  Chain ladder may pose some problems to hikers with a fear of heights.  Once you are top of the mountain you have a lovely view of the surrounding area.  On a clear day once can see as far as the Maluti mountains when descending.   Trail passes sandstone formations.

 

Accommodation – Base camp:
The original building now used as base camp was built 1886.  Here the local pastor gave accommodation to the wives of the men fighting in the Anglo Boer War.

Bird Life:
‘n Wye verskeidenheid van voëls kom voor o.a Witkruisaarende, tarentale en geelbek eende kan ook gejag word. Pragtige kolganse broei ook hier.
